Hello, I am viwrap, a software engineer and AFOL from France. I am an old tech enthusiast which means I hyperfixate on things like old operating systems such as - but not limited to - DOS, old game consoles (NES, DS...), and documentaries/TV spots about all of the above.
I am primarily a C++ programmer for games and game engines, but I also dabble in many other languages
and tools, like JavaScript, Lua, Python...
I have recently been working for MicroStudio as a developer for the
native runtime that aims to replace the Electron export pipeline currently in place for desktop exports.
When it comes to game engines, I have long been fixating on
Torque.
It is a fascinating 3D engine with batteries sort of included (eg. Out-of-the-box networked multiplayer support, custom scripting language...).
Its versions from 2001-2004 (TGE) are an interesting study of techniques from the time, and also of how obvious and devastating developer crunch could be at times when looking at the code.
Nowadays however I mostly use Godot for my projects as it is an
all around pleasant modern engine for any type of project.
You may also find some projects here are made with Godot.
So anyway, this is the new website I'm hyping up on the front page, to me it's a massive
step forward from the "page" I had before. This is now a completely self-contained Flask
app that no longer relies on the clunky XAMPP stack that gave me such hell. I feel like
now it is a lot closer to being an actual expression of myself and my skillset than
before.
And whoever you may be, I hope you feel the same.
